While in class today we "speed dated", during this time class members conveyed their topic(s) and received feedback. I received a lot of help doing this, I now know how I want to refine my question and where I want to directly focus my attention. The most important feedback I got and the feedback I will use the most is the idea that I should compare states. Doing this will open up my question to a wider region, asking if Vermont achieved such a low birth rate because of the size or if we truly are taking precautions that need to be followed by others. I also received the idea of comparing Vermont to a state like Colorado, where marijuana is legal. I think I provided a lot of really helpful feedback to my peers, specifically I think I had a good outlook on how to get directly involved with our community and connect it to the rest of the country.
Feedback:
Renee: Chose specific question
Molly: Research statistics based on state size and see if that contributes
Johami: Ask personal questions to those who have been through it
Mia: look at regional trend and how they effect the rates and why they are at higher risk. Go on Mass generals website and see if they have resources.
Masha: Chose another state to directly compare it to.
Olivia: Is vermont clean? does it have effect on our birth rates? Contact Ashley Boucher at WIC
Evan: Research drug use in other states compare to VT.
Stephan: Loook at aids and quality of life, and VT'S population of youth.
